Rainy Day Reverie

I never knew a human to so quickly attune,
To capture up my being and distract me from the moon,
To grab hold of my essence like it's not a distant star,
And exert a manic influence out of my reach- afar,

I never knew a bond so intricate and deep,
To turn such feeble memories to something I should keep,
To make its presence known with a brand upon my mind,
And question the intention of the feelings left behind,

I never knew a yearning that would dig claws in my soul,
To leave me with desire to become noble and whole,
To linger in my actions, and leave me to take flight,
And cause such haunting restlessness in the middle of the night,

I never knew a sky of gray could be a sky of blue,
I never trusted feelings- for how can they be true?
I never knew, I never knew,
The things that hide inside of you.
