Hope Beyond The Commodore

(Finally another inspiration big enough for a villanelle!)

Hope Beyond The Commodore:

Of all the foolish hearts I could forsake,
Yours' is something wholesome I can see,
And I question the world and the things the Creator can make,

At first my mindset is absent- a flake,
But the colors of your eyes still glimpse at me,
Of all the foolish hearts I could forsake,

In time you'll see that heartstrings pulled are fake,
I'm a marionette who can utter a "Blessed Be",
And I question the world and the things the Creator can make,

This fleeting feeling like a phantom on a lake,
Something upon which scholars can't agree,
Of all the foolish hearts I could forsake,

Each subtle thought you give, you bet I'll take,
Intricately blended, to steep like tea,
And I question the world and the things the Creator can make,

It pains me to see another heart could break,
But you're much too charming to dispel my fantasy,
Of all the foolish hearts I could forsake,
And I question the world and the things the Creator can make...
